Our Values

Hospitals focus on treatment, which is very important.
The Nest focuses on you and your family. In doing that, our
Care Coordinators and our organization will always strive to be exactly what you need.

Real.

We get it. Most of our Care Coordinators are NICU moms themselves, and many of us have a healthcare background. That makes us resourceful, empathetic, and reliable—whatever the need.

We're approachable. We meet you where you are and respect you regardless of where that is.

We're focused on impact, not intent. Too often, NICU moms hear “Let me know if there's anything I can do for you." The intention is good, but often little comes from this kind of sentiment. We know that, and we promise to be invested, specific, and focused on concrete ways we can help.

Affirming.

We’re devoted. No judgement. We’ll be with you through the messiest and most difficult moments.

We’re active. We know that not everyone is treated equitably in healthcare environments. We will work with you personally—and more broadly in the community—to address the disparities experienced by people of color and LGBTQ+ families.

We’re individualized. NICU families have a wide array of needs. If you need tangible support like meals, transportation, or a place to stay, we’re here for you. If you need emotional support, we’re here for you too. Everyone can use a hand, but not all support should be the same.

Empowering.

You know yourself. Starting your parenting journey in a highly medical setting is draining, and it can feel like your power is being taken away. We want to help you find that power again, so you can advocate for yourself and your child.

You experienced trauma. That can mean anger, guilt, frustration, sadness, or exhaustion. There’s hope and relief in being seen, and we want to help you find it.

You are going to thrive. There are challenges. We want to develop an ongoing relationship to help you overcome them.

Feeling overwhelmed?

We are a gentle ear when working with our families but a powerful voice when working for our families.
